PREPARING YOURSELF FOR FASHION WEEK SEASON

By Isabella Rodriguez, Beau & Ro Intern

With the 2017 Fashion Week season fast approaching, those of us without modeling careers or a knack for design can find it difficult navigating the streets starting February 9th. From the abundance of photographers, to fleeting glimpses of the industry’s top names, to your morning commute time being multiplied by three, there’s no avoiding Fashion Week. So, if you are someone hoping to show off your newly-perfected outfit, spot some celebrities, see the hottest new trends before everyone else, or simply avoid the whole mess all together, you’ve come to the right place.

First, you have to know your dates. This February the sleepless New York City is kicking off the #fwszn, followed by London, Milan, and, last but certainly not least, Paris Fashion Week. Chances are, not all of these will be on your schedule this month, but if you happen to live in of these fashion hubs, it’s good to know when the chaos may be coming to you neighborhood.

Second, figure out how to see the shows. If you’re not too keen on stalking the looks post-runway, there’s a couple different ways to get an in. Although most are invite-only, some shows and events during fashion week are open to the public – so keep your eyes peeled for open events that might be happening just under your nose! But, if all else fails, check out fashionweekonline.com for livestreams of your favorite designers.

Third, know where to go. This may take a bit of searching, and you never know where you might spot a celeb, but during the days the trendsetters tend to gravitate towards certain locations. On the NYFW website, Skylight Clarkson Square at 558 Washington St and Industria at 40 Bethune Street, are listed as venues this year, so as per usual, SoHo and Meatpacking District will probably give you the best odds. Check the other FW cities’ websites for details on their venues.

Lastly, look your best! Throw on that boujie coat you said you’d wear but didn’t, alongside some stylish sunnies and a fresh pair of shoes, and go out on the town! You never know who you could run into or what could happen, so pack the essentials and dress to impress! With Beau & Ro’s Foldover Clutch + Crossbody bags, you can easily transition from day-to-night without having to stop at home and grab your going-out  bag. So, go out, meet people, take some killer pics, and enjoy this fashionable atmosphere! No excuses!

What Not to Forget this NYFW

Before you run out the door to get to your next appointment or stalk Karl Lagerfeld, make sure not to forget these essentials to help you get through this exciting, hectic week.

 1. Cold Weather Gear

This is undoubtedly number 1. As much as we like to deny that we are cold in our James Dean-cool looking leather jackets – something my fellow New Yorkers should be familiar with - it’s freezing outside. Fingerless/tech gloves are a must, and paired with a killer hat and designer scarf, there’s no way you could jeopardize your chic fashion week ensembles.

 2. Protective Lip Balm/Gloss

No matter how much water you drink, the dry air will always get the better of your lips. Chicago may be deemed the Windy City, but NYC gives Chi-town a run for its money. One of my favorites is the tinted Sugar lip treatments from Fresh Cosmetics. Not only are the colors natural and just gorge, they make your lips feel like heaven. You can pick up your favorite shade or the colorless ones are your local Sephora or Fresh store.

 3. A Statement Bag

The trick to a nice bag, is one that is functional and (obviously) makes your outfit unique. Beau & Ro Bag Company makes functional and stylish bags to get you through the whole day and night. Try one of the Moon Clutch + Crossbody Bags to give your outfit the accessory it’s been missing.
